About

We are a consulting firm that helps organisations understand and make the most of social media for business. Our website incorporates Engage: The Carve Consulting blog which aims to keep those responsible for their brand’s reputation up to date with the latest developments on the web.

After many years working and consulting to some of the most recognised brands in the world on corporate communication issues, it became obvious to us the internet was changing the way we communicate and is now a pivotal, integral and unavoidable element of strategic communication.

While it originally threatened to be the death knell for communication as we know it: no more newspapers, TV or radio - even the shopping mall, we are now seeing a revolution in the way the internet works and how people are intereacting with it.

Web2.0 allows organisations to truly engage in two way communication with their stakeholders - on a large scale. It opens up a whole new world of opportunities for organisations to communicate to their customers, employees, shareholders, partners and the media.

So in 2009 we decided to bring Carve Consulting to Australia to offer a combination of solid, traditional corporate communication experience and the latest thinking in online marketing and communication; social media and search engine marketing; social recruiting; engagement practices; online reputation management and digital strategy development.

With more than 14 years experience across diverse sectors such as finance, retail, property, government, health, education, telecommunications, IT, lifestyle, food and wine, travel, fashion and interiors our communication specialities include brand building and management; profile building; community development and management; reputation management; publicity; media liaison; building and managing relationships with professional, government and non-government organisations; sponsorship and event management.

So what’s the reason organisations like yours hire us?

Well, whether your organisation is seeking to understand and use corporate social networking to attract new customers, attract new employers or better engage your existing ones, to launch a new product, to hire the brightest graduates, or to manage your online reputation, what we bring to the table is a deep understanding of communities and web 2.0 and the new rules of marketing and PR.

We’ll bring you ideas, new ways of thinking and doing. We’ll up-skill your teams enabling you to bring our expertise in house. And ultimately - whether you’re measuring cost per acquisition, cost per hire or brand engagement, we’ll make a tangible difference.

From twitter and blogs to brands and jobs, we deliver great strategies + brilliant implementation. And we think we’re great fun to work with (full disclosure: there is no empirical evidence to support this). What’s not to like?

So here’s a little more background about us:

Sarah Thomas - Owner and Managing Director

sthomas1Sarah moved back to her home town of Adelaide in 2005 after many years living and raising a family in London.

With a combination of technical and creative interests she earnt a degree in Architecture at Adelaide University, but soon realised her passion for people and communication overshadowed, yet never really extinguished her love of good design.

Sarah’s career has seen her involved in the first electronic local government elections in the UK with British Telecom; run the media office for London Fashion Week; be involved with Telstra’s rebranding from Telecom and assisting with its partial privatisation; help launch Starbucks into Adelaide and assist Wine Australia to reposition Australian wines throughout the world.

Sarah is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and graduated as best marketing student with a Grad Dip in Marketing from Curtin University. More details about her professional background can be found in her LinkedIn profile and she regularly provides updates and insights into how communication ‘times are a changing’ via her Twitter account:  sarahatcarve.
